Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy applies when you visit SimpleStreamOverlay.com, purchase or activate SimpleStreamOverlay, use our licensing/download services, join our mailing list, or contact support. The Browser Bridge has additional product-specific information in our Browser Bridge Privacy Policy.

2. Information we process

Depending on your interaction, we may process the email address supplied for checkout; payment and order references returned by our payment provider; entitlement and licence metadata; hashed licence information; generated device identifiers, optional device names, activation slots and credential hashes; support information you choose to provide; security/operational records such as webhook identifiers, statuses and timestamps; your email address and optional first name if you join our mailing list; and optional website analytics data when you choose to allow measurement. We do not intentionally collect or store full payment-card numbers.

3. Purposes and legal bases

We process information to fulfil purchases, create and manage licences, enforce device limits, provide protected downloads, operate and secure our services, prevent fraud and abuse, respond to support, send the mailing-list updates you ask to receive, meet legal obligations, and—where you allow it—measure website and advertising performance. Where UK data-protection law applies, legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests in proportionate security and service operation, legal obligations, and consent where requested.

4. Payments

Card checkout is provided by Square. Information entered into Square checkout is processed by Square under its own privacy terms. SimpleStreamOverlay receives only information and transaction references needed to verify and fulfil the purchase. We do not intentionally receive or store full card details.

5. Licensing, activation and downloads

Our server-side licensing system stores information needed to verify purchases and manage the applicable device allowance. Plaintext licence keys and device credentials are not intended to be stored in our licensing database; security-sensitive credentials use derived or hashed representations where designed by the service. Secure downloads are authorised against the relevant purchase and entitlement before the private package is delivered.

6. Browser Bridge and stream information

The Browser Bridge reads supported live-chat, emote, viewer-count and related information from supported YouTube, Twitch and Kick pages that you choose to open in Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox and provides it to the locally installed SimpleStreamOverlay application. It is not designed to collect general browsing history. See the Browser Bridge Privacy Policy.

7. Local chat archives

SimpleStreamOverlay can save chat archives as text files on your own computer, including automatic 10,000-message archive batches. Those local files remain under your control and are not uploaded to us merely because the archive feature is used.

8. Analytics and advertising measurement

Optional Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement is disabled by default on our website. If you choose to allow measurement, Google may process limited website-usage and advertising-performance information. We do not intentionally send purchase email addresses, licence keys, device credentials or secure purchase claim tokens to Google. You can revisit your choice using the Analytics settings control in the site footer.

9. Cookies and browser storage

Our website may use browser storage necessary to remember your analytics preference and whether the mailing-list prompt was dismissed or completed. Optional Google measurement technologies are enabled only after the relevant consent choice. Third-party services you choose to use may operate their own necessary technologies under their policies.

10. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by service providers where necessary to operate SimpleStreamOverlay, including payment, hosting/infrastructure and optional analytics providers. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

11. International processing

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the applicable provider or transfer mechanism must provide the legally required protection.

12. Retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for fulfilment, licence administration, security, fraud prevention, support, accounting and legal obligations. Different records may require different periods, including where transaction or security records are needed for disputes, refunds, chargebacks or abuse investigations.

13. Security

We use proportionate safeguards including HTTPS, restricted access, encrypted secrets, server-side entitlement validation, hashed or derived credentials where appropriate, private software storage and security logging. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

14. Your rights

Depending on applicable law and circumstances, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. 15. Complaints

Please contact us first if you have a privacy concern. Where UK data-protection law applies, you may also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

16. Children

Our commercial purchasing and licensing services are not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us inappropriately, contact us.
